Person-centred therapy is a form of counselling that places you—the client—at the heart of the therapeutic process. Rather than directing the conversation or telling you what to do, I offer a respectful, accepting and confidential relationship in which you can explore what matters to you.
Sessions usually involve talking with me in a calm, private setting. You may speak about current difficulties, past experiences, relationships, identity, hopes or anything else that feels relevant. I will listen carefully, reflect what I hear and help you notice your own feelings, meanings and choices. There is no test to pass and no requirement to discuss anything before you are ready.
Person-centred therapy may support people who want to understand themselves more deeply, strengthen self-acceptance, process difficult experiences or make choices that feel more authentic. People also seek therapy when experiencing anxiety, low mood, grief, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, life transitions or a general sense of feeling stuck. Results vary, and therapy is not a substitute for urgent medical or mental-health care.
This approach may suit you if you value a collaborative, non-directive style and want space to find your own way forward. A first conversation can help you understand my approach, qualifications, fees, confidentiality policy and whether you feel comfortable working together.
